Dover Lifeboat Crew go to War and Peace

Monday, 15 July 2013
Dover Lifeboat volunteer crew members are used to battling the elements on the water but this week they go to War and Peace on dry land.

Thanks to the organisers of this week's War & Peace Revival taking place at the Folkestone Racecourse, Dover's RNLI crew and collectors will have full access to the site to meet visitors to the event, accept donations and to raise the profile of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Visitors to the event will be able to meet and talk to members of the lifeboat crew, see some of the equipment they use including a D Class inflatable inshore lifeboat and will have the opportunity to purchase exclusive RNLI souvenirs.

Dover's Lifeboat Operations Manager, Roy Couzens said: "This is a fantastic chance to raise the profile of the RNLI and particularly of Dover Lifeboat. I really want to thank Rex and all the organisers of the War & Peace Revival for their support of or volunteer lifeboat crews."

The crew's attendance at the War & Peace Revival follows a busy couple of weeks for the lifeboat which has launched to a variety of craft during the recent spell of good weather including, broken down speedboats, yachts with fouled propellers & inflatables blowing out to sea.

The 2013 War & Peace Revival is taking place at the Folkestone Racecourse from the 17th to the 21st July.
