Appeal following fatal collision on A2 near Dover

Kent Police was called to the coastbound carriageway of the A2 near Temple Ewell at 1.36am this morning (6 September 2013) to reports a pedestrian had been in collision with a silver Mercedes A series car.

The pedestrian, a 20 year old man, was declared dead at the scene.

The A2 from Dover was closed between the junctions with the A256 Whitfield West and the A260 while investigators gather evidence.

Officers from the Kent Police Serious Investigation Collision Unit are appealing for anybody who saw the pedestrian in the area before the collision to call them on 01622 798538

Investigating officer, DS Scott Lynch, said: "The young man was wearing a pale blue shirt and black trousers.

"I believe he walked down Singledge Lane prior to the incident and would appeal to anybody with information to come forward."
