Port of Dover Police extend Neighbourhood Watch scheme

Friday, 13 January 2012
From the Promenade at the western end of the Gateway Flats to the Clock Tower and Cambridge Road, there is now a new Neighbourhood Watch scheme to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour, thanks to PC Martin Dadd and the Port of Dover Police.

With support from South East Kent Neighbourhood Watch, the scheme is being managed jointly by the Police and local residents, a number of whom will act as a general point of contact.

Delighted with the response from local residents, PC Martin Dadd said: "Reporting anything that will allow the Police to act quickly may prevent an offence, result in an arrest or avert anti-social behaviour. The scheme is creating a great partnership between those who live and those who work on the seafront."

Extending the scheme already in place at the eastern end of Marine Parade, the latest initiative means that the entire area along the Promenade is now covered by a Neighbourhood Watch scheme with further plans to extend to the Marina.

As part of a successful nationwide initiative, residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity, crime or other matter that may be of interest to the Police.
