Know your Gateway

Thursday, 11 October 2012
What can Dover Gateway do for you? Gateway is inviting you to come and visit the Dover Discovery Centre on Thursday 25 October between 9.30am and 1pm to find out.

Gateway in partnership with the Dover Discovery Centre is holding a 'Know Your Gateway' event for local residents to find out about what services are available for them. There will be various groups providing information and guidance about their services and their links with the Gateway and Discovery Centre, including Connexions, Disability Drop In Centre, Health Trainers and Smoking Cessation.

Kent County Council and Dover District Council joined up to open the Gateway office in Dover, which provided increased services for residents, including a range of voluntary and community support services. The Gateway opened in 2010 and has successfully engaged with local businesses, charities and voluntary organisations to ensure that the services it offers are relevant to residents' needs, and it is constantly evolving.

Matthew Munson, Front of House Coordinator for Dover Gateway said: "We're holding this event to show how we, and the Discovery Centre, are committed to good customer services by letting the local community know who works with us and how they can help."

Dover Discovery Centre houses the Library, a theatre and Adult Education together under one roof, and is alongside Dover Museum and Dover Visitor Information Centre. It offers a variety of services to the local community, and is always adapting to remain fresh and relevant to the community.

Sarah Bottle, KCC Community Development Librarian for Dover District Libraries added: "Both the Discovery Centre and the Gateway have been incredibly successful in building partnerships and letting people access services from a central location. The 'Know Your Gateway' event is a way of showing people what we can do to help them."

You can find the Gateway at Castle Street in Dover, and the Discovery Centre at the Market Square.
