Final Olympic action at the Live Site

Tuesday, 7 August 2012
Every day this week, Dover District Council is dressing the Live Site in Dover's Market Square with Olympic flags and colourful beanbags so that everyone can sit back, relax and enjoy the last week of the Olympic Games on the Big Screen.

The Olympic Games live broadcasts are becoming more and more popular as excitement builds moving towards the Closing Ceremony, titled 'A Symphony of British Music', taking place on Sunday 12 August 2012.

An event is to be held in Dover's Market Square on Sunday 12 August from 6pm until 9pm to mark the occasion, starting with a free Zumba party (6 to 7pm) open to everyone. Further entertainment will lead into the countdown to the Closing Ceremony, starting at 9pm on the Big Screen and featuring more than 4000 performers.

The Closing Ceremony, broadcast worldwide, involves the flag entrance at 9.15pm, athletes' entrance at 9.30pm and the handover to Rio de Janeiro for 2016 Olympic Games at 11.15pm. The Ceremony is due to finish between 11.30pm and midnight, so bring a chair, blanket and picnic and enjoy the show.

The Closing Ceremony promises to celebrate the achievements of athletes at the London 2012 games and features the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame, which signals the end of the Games.
