Dover Seafront hosts Community Safety Day

Thursday, 26 July 2012
The Port of Dover and Port of Dover Police will be hosting this year's free Dover Community Safety Day on the Promenade on Saturday 11th August between 10.00 and 16.00 hrs.

This popular event will be attended by a number of safety and community organisations who will present displays to promote safety and the work they do within the community. Organisations attending the event include Kent Fire and Rescue Service, RNLI, Maritime Coastguard Agency, Kent County Council Highways Safety Unit, Port of London Authority Sea and River Safety Code Unit, Port of Dover Police, Kent Police and the Dover Community Safety Unit.

There will be waterborne displays by the Port of Dover Police Marine Unit and Dover Lifeboat who will perform a mock rescue in the Harbour. Making a welcome return to the seafront will be the ever-popular Newfoundland Sea Rescue Dogs who are guaranteed to make a splash.

PC Martin Dadd of the Port of Dover Police Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We look forward to welcoming local residents to this important event designed to help promote safety awareness. It's a great opportunity to ask for helpful advice whilst also enjoying an entertaining day on the seafront, and it will also help to raise funds for the Dover Lifeboat on the day."
