Coalfields Regeneration Trust Grant Awards Celebration

Tuesday, 27 March 2012
Representatives from 26 community and voluntary groups that have benefited from a total of £99,432 Bridging the Gap funding over the past year were invited to a Grant Awards Celebration evening at Eastry Village Hall on Wednesday 21 March 2012.

The Community and Leisure Team at Dover District Council organised this celebration for the voluntary and community groups that have received funding from the Bridging the Gap Small Grants Programme. This is a Coalfields Regeneration Trust funding initiative administered in partnership with DDC working with the local community.

Funding has been given for a wide variety of different projects for people in the former coalfields community over the year, ranging from cultural and educational initiatives, to sports, health and environment, refurbishment and other projects to help benefit community life.

Peter McNestry, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Coalfields Regeneration Trust attended the evening. The Coalfields Regeneration Trust has announced another year of funding, which will be known as the Coalfields Community Grants Level 1. There is funding of £95,000 to be given out to coalfields communities in the area over the year.
