Cash boost for Dover and Deal charities

Thursday, 16 August 2012
Charities working with young people in the Dover and Deal area have been presented with cheques for £400 each by Kent Police.

The money comes from the Kent Police Property Fund and Chief Inspector Darren Mullins handed a cheque to Jane Sharp of CorDomus to help fund its child contact centre.

The two-year-old charity, based in Deal, helps families in crisis following marriage breakdowns and separation. The contact centre offers sessions especially for children after their parents split up.

The new minibus fund for the Dover Sea Cadets will also be helped by a cheque handed over by Acting Chief Inspector Daren O'Malley.

The Kent Police property fund is generated from the sale, at auction, of unclaimed lost property and items seized in police operations. The proceeds raised at these auctions are then presented to local charitable groups that work for the good of the local community.
