Appeal after man attacked by dog in Dover

Tuesday, 27 November 2012
Police investigating reports of a dog attack in Dover are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A 25-year-old man was walking along Glenfield Road at the far end close to the archway on Saturday 17 November between 10.45pm and 10.54pm when he was attacked.

Another man with two dogs was sitting on a wall close to some railings when the dogs ran up to the victim.

Neither were on a lead and the smaller dog, which was dark in colour and appeared to be the younger of the two, circled the victim.

The second, larger dog, described as red or ginger in colour with some white on its chest, was more aggressive and growled at the man before jumping up and biting him on his right wrist.

The man managed to shake the dog off but it jumped up again and bit him on the left elbow ripping his jumper.

The victim suffered cuts, bite marks and scratches to his wrist and elbow.

Police would like to speak to the dog owner who is described as approximately 6ft tall, aged in his late 30s, with a shaved or bald head.

He had a distinctive face which was very wrinkly with an unusual shaped nose.

Anyone who has information about the attack or the identification of the dog owner is asked to contact Kent Police by calling 101 quoting crime reference number ZY/032718/12.

Alternatively, you can call Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
