You decide at Neighbourhood Forums

Monday, 17 October 2011
Local residents are invited to come along and vote for their favourite community projects at the next meetings of the Dover West and Dover North Neighbourhood Forums.

Both meetings are being held on Saturday 29 October at St Margaret's Village Hall - the Dover West Neighbourhood Forum from 10am, and the Dover North Neighbourhood Forum from 2pm

Dover District Neighbourhood Forums have decided to continue using Participatory Budgeting (PB), successfully piloted last year, to award the Small Community Capital Projects (SCCP) grant fund.

Participatory Budgeting is an innovative way of allocating funding that directly involves local people in recommending how the grant fund is awarded in their area. Invited local groups, who have applied and been found eligible, will give a three-minute presentation on their project. Local people will be able to vote electronically on the day on how they score each project, and the top scoring projects will be recommended for funding. All recommendations for SCCP grants are subject to approval by KCC and DDC Cabinets.

Kent County Council is also using PB to award the KCC Members' Community Grants and Local Schemes Grants in the Dover North and Deal & Walmer Neighbourhood Forum areas.

Doors open 30 minutes before the start of each meeting, with light refreshments and an opportunity to meet your local Councillors, and other Forum members.

For further information, contact KCC Community Engagement Manager Emma Carey on 07850 924247.
