Wednesday, 14 September 2011
The Port of Dover recently welcomed a delegation from the Association of Road Freight companies of Brazil, a syndicate of over 7,000 freight companies in the Great São Paulo area as part of their fact finding trip to the UK.

Organised in co-operation with Mr. Peter Cullum, Head of International Affairs at the Road Haulage Association (RHA) through the Brazilian Embassy, the Port hosted 17 members of the Association which had a particular interest in cross-border and traffic management issues.

The delegation was received by the Port's Corporate Communications Manager, Richard Christian, who gave a presentation on the Port, its function and facilities as well as its economic importance and future development plans.

Richard Christian said: "We were delighted to host the delegation from Brazil and to assist our friends at the RHA in showcasing the UK haulage industry and the part we play in providing an efficient service to it and in the facilitation of UK-European trade."

The group was also taken to Terminal Control for a birds eye view of the Eastern Docks and to hear more about the operation and border control aspects at Dover from Border Agencies Liaison Manager, John Powell.

Peter Cullum added: "I am most grateful for the help given by the Port of Dover in enabling us to highlight the intensity and effectiveness of operation of one of the UK's key gateways for hauliers and the combined role of the Port and the haulage industry in supporting employment and the economy."
