Lorry Steroid Smuggler Handed Jail Term

Tuesday, 5 April 2011
A Polish man has been jailed for two years after he was caught trying to smuggle banned steroids through the port of Dover.

Jacek Kacinski, 47, arrived at Dover's eastern Docks at 9.20am on 10 January driving a lorry carrying a mixed load of goods.

The lorry was searched by UK Border Agency officers and among the boxes containing legitimate goods, 50 boxes containing different types of illegal anabolic steroids were found.

In total, 10.3 kilos of steroids were found, including 3.29 kilos of Nandralone and 2.39 kilos of Testosterone.

Kacinski, from Gdansk in Poland, was charged with drug smuggling and was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court yesterday (4 April 2011) to two years imprisonment. He had admitted the charge at an earlier hearing.

It is not known where Kacinski intended to deliver the steroids in the UK, but UK Border Agency investigators have estimated that the haul of Class C drugs was worth in excess of £250,000.
