Fatal crash near Dover

A 17-year-old boy from Walmer died when a car in which he was a passenger left the A258 Dover to Deal road at Swingate last night (Wednesday 12 October 2011).

Police were called at 11pm to the crash which involved a Ford Fiesta car being driven towards Dover. There were four boys in the car, including the boy who died, who was in the back seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The others in the car were taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford to be treated for minor injuries.

A 17-year-old boy from Walmer was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and will be interviewed by police later today.

The road was fully re-opened at 6am.
