Dover Marina retains top 5 Gold Anchors award

Friday, 2 December 2011
The Yacht Harbour Association has announced that Dover Marina has again qualified for 5 Gold Anchors after its recent assessment.

With direct access to the English Channel, Dover Marina is just over 20 nautical miles from the popular French ports of Calais and Boulogne. The Port of Dover offers excellent shelter from the English Channel and is well lit and navigable upon approach.

The marina staff are well trained under the management of Chris Windsor, a qualified CMM.

Dover Marina's environmental commitment is impressive and complies with current legislation and environmental standards, meeting the standards for the ICOMIA clean marina accolade.

Kate O'Hara, Head of Commercial & Marketing says: "Dover Marina is delighted to be re-accredited with the '5 Gold Anchor Award' by The Yacht Harbour Association. This award is the highest achievement obtainable in the marina industry and we are thrilled with the recognition for the high standards of operations and customer service that we deliver."

The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), which provides support for marinas and related business throughout the UK and internationally, have said they are delighted that Dover Marina continues to participate and support the Gold Anchor scheme, and consistently achieves top marks.

The Gold Anchor Award Scheme, which has been operating for 23 years, is based on the TYHA Code of Practice for the design construction and operation of marinas. Ratings range from one to five gold anchors. Any award issued is a sign of a credible, quality marina with the number of anchors demonstrating the facilities and standard of service available to berth holders and full compliance with statutory regulations.

The Gold Anchor scheme was recently awarded Green Initiative of the year 2011 by Practical Boat Owner magazine.
