Tuesday, 25 October 2011
The Chairman of Dover District Council has welcomed the success of the Civic Service held at the Church of St Peter and St Paul in River on Friday 21 October, and thanked everyone who came along and helped to bring the community together for the service.

The evening included music from the Betteshanger Brass Band, singing from the Eastry Primary School Choir, a presentation from pupils at Green Park School on their CD Help For Heroes, a reading from one of the members of Dover Youth Theatre, a solo from a member of the St Peter and St Paul's Church Choir, and a thank you speech from the Chairman of Dover District Council. There was also a collection for local charity, the Dover Soup Kitchen.

Cllr Sue Nicholas, Chairman of Dover District Council, said: "This was a great opportunity to bring members of the community together, to look forward to the future and remember the past, and to raise funds for good causes. A number of people very kindly gave their time to help bring the community together for this service, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported the evening."
