Feel Alive Events Coming To Dover

Monday, 19 July 2010
A fantastic range of free activites for all the family is ready for splashdown in Dover this weekend - with the latest Feel Alive event taking place at Pencester Gardens on Saturday 24 July from 10am-4pm (with follow up activities at Dover Sea Sports Centre on Sunday 25 July).

'Feel Alive and Get Wet' is offering lessons in sailing, windsurfing, rowing or kayaking, and those wishing to take part are advised to book on Saturday 24th in Pencester Gardens, to claim their free Sunday session on the water. Free swimming vouchers for Dover Leisure Centre will also be available from the park.

Many other sports and fun activities will be available in Pencester Gardens on the Saturday, suitable for people of all ages and abilities. This includes the Dance and Fitness Zone, Tai Chi, the Games Zone (5-11yrs), the Play Zone (under 5yrs), a chance to try traditional sports such as rugby, basketball, tennis and badminton, as well as the rock climbing tower and taster sessions in the skate park.

The event follows the success of Feel Alive at Victoria Park in June, and comes ahead of the final event at Fowlmead Park on 15 August. Feel Alive is co-ordinated with the input of 'Active Dover', the district's Community Sports Network, and is jointly funded by the Town, District and County Councils working together with local leisure providers.

DDC's Sports Development Officer Sarah Philpott said: "Feel Alive is all about raising awareness of where sport and recreational activities take place locally and encouraging people of all ages and abilities to 'have-a-go' and stay healthy by getting involved."
