Feel Alive 2010

Monday, 26 July 2010
Feel Alive splashed down in Dover with style this weekend, with around 4,000 people enjoying the fantastic range of free activities in Pencester Gardens on Saturday, and 270 people taking advantage of the free taster sessions in sailing, windsurfing and kayaking at Dover Sea Sports Centre on Sunday.

'Feel Alive and Get Wet' was organised by Dover District Council, Vista Leisure, Dover Water Sports, ACTiV Sports Shop, and jointly funded by Dover Town Council and Kent County Council. It was the second of three 'Feel Alive' events this summer aimed at getting people of all ages and abilities involved in sport, fitness and healthy living.

Many activities were on offer in Pencester Gardens including the Dance and Fitness Zone, the Play Zone (under 5yrs), the Games Zone (traditional sports), as well as walking, golf, martial arts, the rock climbing tower and taster sessions in the skate park.

The event follows the success of Feel Alive at Victoria Park in June, and comes ahead of the final event at Fowlmead Country Park on 15 August.

DDC's Sports Development Officer Sarah Philpott said: "We are very pleased with the success of the event in Dover, and for anyone who wants to do more activities and sports this summer simply log onto the Active Dover website or call us to find out more."
