Local Development Framework

Tuesday, 13 October 2009
A central part of the Local Development Framework (LDF), which maps out the district's future over the next 20 years, is being examined by an independent Planning Inspector at the Dover District Council offices in Whitfield from this week.

An Examination in Public into Dover District Council's Core Strategy starts on Thursday, 15 October, and is set to run until Friday 23 October. The Examination will be held by independent Planning Inspector, Mrs Sue Turner, to discuss the key matters that she has identified. The Examination will consist of a series of discussions led by the Inspector on specific topics and questions. Only those invited by the Inspector as participants in the discussions can speak, but the proceedings are open to the public. After the Examination in Public, the Inspector will issue her report on the Core Strategy and her findings will be binding on the Council.

The Core Strategy is the key plan in the Council's Local Development Framework. The Strategy sets out the district's planning framework to 2026, and in particular the Council's growth and regeneration plans, as well as more specific proposals at Dover.
