World War 2 Festival 2008

Wednesday, 26 March 2008
Air raid wardens, ration books and a range of artefacts from life during wartime were among the many topics considered by more than 200 school children from around Kent who came to Dover Museum for the return of the popular World War 2 Festival.

Adults and pupils dressed 1940s style for the special festival events, which were held on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 March. A range of activities took place over the two days, including an art workshop on 'make do and mend', and a drama workshop on life for children during the war. South Kent College students were on hand to style hair in fashions of the time, and visitors had the chance to explore Dover Museum.

Cllr Mrs Sue Nicholas, DDC Cabinet Member for Community said: "The festival was another great success at Dover Museum, and pupils had a lot of fun interacting with the exhibits, learning about history, and getting a real insight into life in the past."
