Travel And Leisure Show Taking Place At Dover Cruise Terminal

Monday, 10 March 2008
The first Kent-based travel and leisure show will be taking place at the Dover Cruise Terminal on Sunday 16 March.

The show, supported by Visit Kent, showcases the many tourist attractions across the county, from theme parks to country homes and castles.

There will also be exhibition stands covering the many means of transport from Kent, including holidays from Kent International Airport, cruises from Dover, and short breaks to France by rail and sea.

Around 90 companies will be represented at the show, and there will be a variety of presentations throughout the day.

Exclusive discounts to many attractions will be available, and Visit Kent will also be promoting 'The Big Day Out' which was launched very successfully last year, and saw thousands of people take advantage of free or reduced admissions.

Fran Warrington, head of tourism for Kent County Council, said: "This is an important event for the county's leisure, hospitality and tourism businesses.

"We will be showcasing the very best of our industry and outlining exciting plans for tourism in Kent which will see us going from strength to strength in the run-up to the London Games in 2012 and beyond.

"Kent has a fine reputation as a visitor destination. We are building on that reputation and taking every step to grow our tourism businesses for a sustainable future. With its stunning coastline, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and internationally renowned castles, gardens, cathedrals and historic houses, Kent has so much to offer visitors of all ages from home and abroad - for a day trip, a short break or a longer holiday".

For the children there will be face painting, balloon modelling, and a magician. Food and drink will also be available throughout the day.

Visitors will also have the chance of entering a free prize draw with around 20 prizes available including a cruise with Fred.Olsen Cruisline.

Admission is free and there is ample free parking. The show is open from 10am until 4pm.
