Police Appeal For Witnesses After Second Robbery At Whitfield Convenience Store

Tuesday, 11 March 2008
Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery at the One Stop Convenience Store in Bewsbury Cross Lane, Whitfield on Monday night (10 March).

A man with a black handled kitchen knife jumped over the counter of the shop known locally as 'The Triangle Stores', and took money and lottery scratch cards from the safe. Although he had a knife he did not threaten staff with it.

He is described as a white man aged in his mid 20s to early 30s and was wearing a grey jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms, black gloves and white trainers. He spoke with a Liverpool accent.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anyone suspicious.

There was a similar incident at the shop on 12 February and officers are looking at the possibility they may be linked.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Stephen Kerr on 01304 240055. Alternatively if you want to remain anonymous call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
