'Hands On' Demonstrations Show Importance Of Hygiene

Thursday, 19 June 2008
A series of 'hands on' demonstrations have been held by Dover District Council's Environmental Health team who took to the road as part of their work to encourage everyone to think about the importance of food hygiene.

As part of national Food Safety Week, from 9-13 June, members of the team were out and about, visiting local businesses and raising the profile of food safety issues. On 10 June at Dover Discovery Centre, and 13 June at the Undercroft in Deal High Street, they conducted hand washing demonstrations, provided information, and handed out free fridge thermometers at special displays.

Food Safety Week is a national initiative led by the Food Standards Agency. The theme this year was "Germ Watch", designed to raise awareness of good food hygiene practices, in particular in the home, especially the 4Cs (Cleaning, Cooking, Chilling and avoiding Cross-contamination).
