Dover Man Receives Community Order For Benefit Fraud

Graham Benson, 45, of St Radigunds Road, Dover appeared at Folkestone Magistrates Court yesterday (15 September) and received a Community Order for 250 hours of unpaid work in the community after pleading guilty to three offences of benefit fraud involving Dover District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions.

Mr Benson failed to declare paid employment as a hod carrier whilst obtaining Income Support, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. The overpayment of benefit from Dover District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions was £10,354. Mr Benson was ordered to pay £100 costs. Dover District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions will recover the overpaid benefit paid from Mr Benson.
