Connaught Park Celebrates 125th Anniversary

A special anniversary is being celebrated in style with a range of fun activities for the whole family in Connaught Park on Sunday 20 July, from 12.30pm to 4.30pm, to commemorate the amazing 125th anniversary of these popular local gardens.

The event is being organized by Dover District Council and features a range of events and attractions. The day includes a Victorian Melodrama by the Dover Youth Theatre, a magician, children's rides, a Punch and Judy show, a brass band, model boat displays, face painting, food and craft stalls, display stands, community stalls and a wide range of outdoor fun activities and games.

The anniversary fete will also feature a dog show, which is being organized by Conifer Lodge Kennels and features a wide range of fun categories for all dogs, simply bring your pet along on the day.

Connaught Park in Dover was opened in 1883. DDC has recently drained and cleaned the pond in Connaught Park, and restored and reinstated the original Victorian fountain.

Cllr Mrs Sue Nicholas, DDC Cabinet Member, said: "Connaught Park is a beautiful asset and has been enjoyed by generations of families living in and visiting Dover. We are delighted to be able to celebrate the park and its outstanding history, and we hope as many people as possible come along to help up celebrate this special anniversary."
