Calling All 2012 Children

Wednesday, 16 July 2008
In the run up to the big street party on Dover seafront on 24 August, organizers have launched an appeal for children born on 20 December 2004, who have registered as '2012 children' with London 2012, and who also want to be involved in the local celebrations of the Olympic handover from Beijing to London.

The free event for the local area on Dover seafront kicks off at 12 noon and features a wide range of events and activities, leading up to a giant fireworks display from the Prince of Wales Pier at 9pm. The event is being organized by Dover District Council in close cooperation with Dover Town Council, and is to celebrate the official Handover from the Beijing Olympics to the London Olympics.

As part of the 'Children's Promise', children born on 20 December 2004 across the country were given the chance to register and play a role in the Olympic Games in London. If you are the parent or guardian of a 2012 child, and also wish your child to be involved in the local celebrations in advance of the Games, please contact Gillian Gayton at DDC on 01304 872424 or email gillian.gayton@dover.gov.uk
