Turning Back The March Of Time - Roman Festival 2007

Thursday, 14 June 2007
Dover Museum is helping to turn back the march of time with almost 1,000 children from Kent and Surrey set to come along to the Museum to see exactly what the Romans did for us at the Roman Festival 2007 from Tuesday 19 to Friday 22 June.

Adults and children from 16 different schools will have the chance to get dressed up in robes and togas and period costumes for the occasion, and have their faces made up and hair styled in Roman or Celtic fashion. The days also include drama workshops and the opportunity to learn about mosaic making and life in the Roman army, or to try making miniature Roman shields. There will also be talks and artifact handling sessions and the chance to visit Dover Museum.

Cllr Mrs Sue Nicholas, DDC Cabinet Member for Community said: "Festival days at Dover Museum are always popular and are a great way to help the Museum bring history to life and help children find out about the past in an informative and fun way."
