Summer Holiday Activity Schemes

Friday, 27 July 2007
Summer fun is in the air, and Vista Leisure - with support from Dover District Council and partners in the community - is ready for action with its summer holiday activities.

DDC is grant aiding Vista Leisure's popular Time Out scheme for 5-12 year-olds, with a series of days out, courses and play days from 30 July to 24 August. Play days are focused on nine sites across the district, and cost £6 per day, or £3 for those on certain benefits. Brochures and further information are available from Vista Leisure.

Project DELTA is funding the Let's Get Out scheme. This school holiday programme, run by Vista Leisure from 30 July to 7 August, includes activities around sports, leisure, healthy eating, performing arts and environmental studies. Project DELTA is a Healthy Living Network, facilitated by DDC, working with the Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust and a range of statutory and voluntary bodies and the local community.

Cllr Mrs Sue Nicholas, DDC Cabinet Member for Community, said: "Summer activity schemes are always popular and we are very pleased to be working with partners in the community to support these schemes."

Kalvin Clapson for Vista Leisure said: "The successful format has been retained and built upon to give children in our community a wide range of things to do this summer. Great fun and value for money is our priority and we won't disappoint."
