Police Appeal For Information About Vulnerable Missing Man

Wednesday, 16 May 2007
Police in South Kent are appealing for the public's help in locating a man who has gone missing from the Capel le Ferne area near Dover.

Forty-one year old Howard Chambers had been living rough in a tent on the cliffs at Capel le Ferne. He was being helped and supported by the Cyrenians, a charity for the homeless, who were working to get him more permanent accommodation. He was last seen by them on Monday 7 May.

Mr Chambers is known to have gone into a shop in Dover on Wednesday 9 May but this is the last confirmed sighting of him. He does not have any money and has not made contact with anyone.

Police are increasingly concerned for his welfare and appeal to any member of the public who may have seen Mr Chambers to contact them as a matter of urgency.

Missing Persons Officer PC Anita James said: "Our worry is that Mr Chambers may have become unwell and could be in need of help."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01303 289 292.
