Friday, 23 March 2007
On Monday 19th March the Right Worshipful Mayor of Dover, Councillor Jan Tranter, hosted a civic reception at the Town Council offices for the outgoing DCAL Courts of 2006. The Mayor took the opportunity of thanking the courts for their tireless hard work on behalf of Dover, and presented DCAL with an engraved glass plaque.

In return, DCAL Director Sid Perkins thanked the Mayor and Dover Town Council for their continuous support and presented the Town Council with the award DCAL received at the London New Years day parade.

On show were the 52 awards the DCAL Courts had amassed throughout the year and Chairman Mandie Sehmbi presented medals on the night for all those who attended the London Parade including the Mayor and Councillor Ken Tranter.

The courts of 2006 also had the chance to say a last farewell to Junior Miss Dover, Hayley O'Connell-White who leaves for a new life in Dubai this weekend. Speaking of Hayley, Chairman Mandie Sehmbi said: "Hayley has been a superb Junior Queen and we will all miss her terribly".

Speaking after the event DCAL Chairman Mandie Sehmbi said: "It really is an honour for the courts to be recognised by the town for their outstanding work. The girls and boys have attended over 70 events during their year, promoting Dover. Their dedication to Dover and it's Carnival is to be commended".
