An exciting tourism boost is being welcomed with news that a nationwide initiative has recognised Dover Visitor Information Centre as an official Enjoy England partner.
The Enjoy England programme is run by Visit Britain for Visitor Information Centres across the country to promote excellence and world-class customer service. The initiative gives access to national and international marketing, business toolkits and sales opportunities, and a training programme that recognises professional skills.
Visitor Information Centres must be at a key location and meet strict criteria, including handling in excess of 100,000 annual enquiries, and using a Destination Management System. Successful VICs must also demonstrate a commitment to staff excellence and the promotion of England, and demonstrate effective use of public funds to benefit the local visitor economy, whilst meeting the regional tourist information strategy.
Cllr Frederick Scales, Cabinet Member for Economy and Special Projects, said: "This is great news and is an important recognition of the work that is carried out by VIC staff, and of the importance of Dover as a key tourism location. We look forward to working with the partnership to continue to work to promote excellence and world-class service."
