Two local tourism success stories for White Cliffs Country have been welcomed following the prestigious 2007 Tourism ExSEllence Awards - described as the 'Oscars' of the region's industry.

South East England's best visitor attractions and places to stay were recognised in the Tourism South East awards, which were held on 23 October at Wentworth Golf Club. Horace Holyer from Dover Town Centre Welcome Service, was runner up for the Outstanding Customer Service award, and Gardeners Rest Guest Accommodation at Kingsdown was Highly Commended in the B&B/Guest Accommodation category.

Cllr Frederick Scales, Dover District Council's Cabinet Member for Economy, said: "These prestigious awards recognise excellence, quality and innovation across all sectors of the tourism industry. Our congratulation go to everyone and we are delighted to see providers in White Cliffs Country acknowledged in this way for their great work."
