Recycling Garden Waste

Monday, 11 September 2006
Dover District Council is holding a series of special days to answer questions and to give gardeners an opportunity to buy 50 litre bags of soil improver at a specially reduced price.

It has been one year since the green waste scheme was launched to 10,000 properties within the Dover District, and another 10,000 properties were introduced to the scheme in March of this year. Over the past year, Dover District Council has recycled over 2,000 tonnes of garden waste into soil improver.

The soil improver will be on sale at locations across the district - each bag will cost £2.00 (normally £2.50) or three bags for £5.00, with a maximum of six bags per vehicle.

The special days will be held at the following locations:

Weds 20 Sept, 3pm - 7 pm, Whitfield Household Waste Recycling Centre
Sun 24 Sept,10am - 2pm, Southwall Road (Deal) Household Waste Recycling Centre
Sun 1 Oct, 10am - 2pm, Richborough Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Mandy Pile, DDC Waste Services Officer, said: "The kerbside collection of green waste has been a great success and following last year's sale days, we are looking forward to another busy time. We remind everyone to keep recycling and hope people will continue to use the green waste collections over the autumn months and remember that leaves can be put into the garden waste collection."
