Recycle Your Old Mobile Phones And Help Kent Association For The Blind

Friday, 25 August 2006
An initiative has been launched by Dover District Council and Kent Association for the Blind to encourage people to recycle their old mobile phones and help local charity.

During the month of September, you can take your old mobile to Dover District Council offices in Whitfield, or Area Offices in Dover, Aylesham, Sandwich and Deal. All you need to do is remove the SIM card and place your phone in the collection box or hand it to any member of staff and it will be recycled. Chargers are not required. For each mobile phone recycled, KAB receives on average £6.00. This money is used for KAB's ongoing work with people who are blind and partially sighted throughout Kent.

Mandy Pile, Waste Services Officer at DDC said, "This is a great opportunity to clear out all those old mobiles from around the house and not only 'do your bit' for the environment but also help Kent Association for the Blind in the process."

For further information please call Dover District Council on 01304 872428, email waste-resources@dover.gov.uk or log onto www.dover.gov.uk or www.kab.org.uk.
