New Norfolkline Ferry Arrives At Dover

Monday, 17 July 2006
Norfolkline's newest ferry has arrived at the Port of Dover this morning.

Maersk Dover sailed into the harbour at the end of her delivery voyage from the Korean shipyard where she was built.

Maersk Dover is the third new purpose-built ferry introduced by Norfolkline on their Dover-Dunkerque route in the past nine months.

The ship can carry up to 200 cars, 780 passengers and 120 lorries. They have seperate areas for tourist and freight customers.

Maersk Dunkerque arrived in November and Maersk Delft arrived at Dover in February. The three new ferries, which make the crossing in less than two hours, replace three of Norfolkline's existing fleet, Dawn Merchant, Northern Merchant and Midnight Merchant.

At the same time Norfolkline, in association with the Dunkerque Tourist Office, has launched a new "Good Reasons to Stop Off In Dunkerque" guide to encourage more people to visit the French town.

The guide highlights the appeal of Dunkerque for shopping, restaurants, history and culture, beach and seafront, Flemish villages and hotels. Day excursions and short breaks are on offer.

Dunkerque's town centre has more than 400 shops including top brand names and speciality shops selling many French delicacies and food products. Out-of-town shopping is also available at the Centre Commercial including big brand stores, restaurants and the Auchan Flandres Littoral Hypermarket.

A 10-Euro two-day Tourisme City Pass offers free entry and discounts to attractions, museums, public transport, sports and leisure facilites, as well as a five-Euro discount shopping voucher.
