Love In A Box Campaign Sends Christmas Gifts To Underprivileged Children

Thursday, 23 November 2006
Many people in Dover are sending gifts to children in other countries this Christmas as part of the Love In A Box campaign. Churches and schools are among those who are taking part in the scheme.

Eight sixth formers at Dover Girls' Grammar School have collected around 200 boxes full of presents for underprivileged children in areas such as Romania, Ukraine and Croatia.

The eight girls, who are in the lower sixth at the school, have been collecting the boxes since September.

"These boxes are filled with presents for the children who would not receive any gifts otherwise," said the girls.

"We wish to thank everyone who donated in a box, money or time to the charity. The boxes should reach them in time for Christmas and will really make a differnce to their lives."

The girls involved were Emma, Hayley, Briony, Jenny, Judith, Rachel, Chloe and Laura.
