Designated Public Places Order

Friday, 20 October 2006
Dover District Council proposes to make a Designated Public Places Order, which would make it an offence to consume alcohol in public places within the designated areas if required by a Police Constable not to do so, and your views are sought.

The order (commonly but incorrectly known as an alcohol exclusion zone) does not mean a total ban on consuming alcohol. It is proposed that the order will come into effect on 1 February 2007 and the deadline for representations is 17 November 2006.

The order proposes to apply to all public places lying within the boundaries of Dover, encompassing Castle, Town and Pier, Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory, Tower Hamlets, Saint Radigunds, Buckland and Whitfield wards and the following parishes: Ash, Aylesham, Eastry, Eythorne, Guston, Ringwould/Kingsdown, River, St. Margaret's, Shepherdswell, Temple Ewell and Wingham. Areas in Deal and Sandwich are also covered.

Any representations should be sent to Christopher Allen, Community Safety Manager, Dover District Council, White Cliffs Business Park, Dover, Kent CT16 3PJ, or emailed to communitysafety@dover.gov.uk provided the e-mail contains full name and postal address of the person making the representations.
