Cyclists Head For Dover As Part Of Tour Pour La Mer

Tuesday, 25 April 2006
More than 300 cyclists will be heading for Dover on 12 May as they take part in the first Tour Pour la Mer event from Greenwich to Le Touquet.

The cyclists, led by chief executive of P&O Ferries, Robert Woods, will set off from the historic Cutty Sark to ride to Dover where they will cross to Calais on board P&O Ferries. They will then continue to Le Touquet, a total distance of 200 kilometres.

The event, which is being sponsored by P&O, will raise money for The Mission to Seafarers, whose president is The Princess Royal, as it celebrates 150 years of caring for seafarers, and the Sea Alarm Foundation which is dedicated to rehabilitating wildlife affected by marine oil spills.
