Brothel Closed Down By Police In Dover

Monday, 20 November 2006
A brothel has been closed down in Dover by police responding to concerns from people living in the area.

The neighbourhood policing team in Dover have arrested three women suspected of keeping or managing a brothel used for prostitution.

It follows a search warrant carried out at an address in Cherry Tree Avenue, Dover on Thursday 16 November in response to concerns raised by local residents.

Two women from Deal, aged 24 and 28 and a 23-year-old woman from Birchington were formally cautioned for keeping or managing a brothel used for prostitution under the Sexual Offences Act 1956.

Dover District Chief Inspector Roy Cottam said: "I would like to thank the community for bringing this to our attention and the work done by our neighbourhood policing team for resolving the issue."

"We will continue to work with members of the community to address issues that affect their quality of life, and to make the Dover district a safer place to live."
