It's a loss for parliamentary boundary NOT for council boundary.
As DDC councillor Basher would be back as a 'player' in Dover area, especially if can oust Eddy as Leader of Opposition.

I doubt Gordon will stand for Parliament when it will be a safe Tory seat for evermore, I think he would have run Charlie a lot closer in 2015 if he been the candidate. I heard a rumour that were going to be boundary changes at county level which will make holding his present seat much harder.

Yes there are boundary changes.Gordon will be ok if the people of River vote for the person and not the party.I just wish the candidates would not slag of the opposition in their leaflets. some of my friends are Labour or UKIP.If Labour at DDC are at logger heads with each other they will not be an effective opposition.

It's not about winning Howard. It's Warhol's 15minutes of fame!
Just imagine YOUR photo on all the election material, TV interviews on Dover sea front with YOU looking serious and offering YOUR views on everything from renewing Trident to 'our' NHS, YOU given equal time and taken as much notice of as a REAL MP, column inches in the local newspapers, a CD ROM to hand on to YOUR grandchildren showing just how important YOU almost were, a chance to flirt with young impressionable election volunteers, photo opportunities with real politicians etc.

You forgot the opportunities for blue hats, gravy and strawberries. (Sorry, bad Button - will go stare out of the window at the real world.)

I am beginning to warm to the idea of a career in politics, maybe I should start the "Don't ask me I haven't the foggiest party"?

Steady on, that's getting a bit too honest. There again, at least no-one would expect you to provide a "running commentary" on why you didn't have the foggiest.

Been there done that Captain, somebody even snapped me as I was contemplating tossing myself off Deal Pier.

Maybe I am old fashioned but I am trying not to picture David tossing himself off, each to their own.

David, good attempt, correct words but in wrong order
'I was contemplating tossing myself off Deal pier' = not funny
'I was on Deal pier, contemplating tossing myself off' = funny
I am still available for personal tuition in the use of double entendre if needed. Doh!

Still no excuse for screwing up one of my one-liners, especially when I gave him such excellent material for use on his election campaign!

It was after my campaign if you remember, you left it too late.

This has been coming for some time but doesn't address the postal voting problem.

Maybe a need to clear up a few of Bob's points;
Gordon didn't stand for selection in last labour parliamentary SHORTLIST
Labour rules also stop any person being a labour leader of two councils thus why Gordon stood down as leader whilst on DCC
Nice though post 92

Didn't or couldn't? Genuine question. There's a big difference between the two.

Anyone from Aylesham on here? It's a ridiculous time of year for an election. Unpredictable (though low) turnout assured.
