Just to clarify the situation I checked with Democratic services at DDC who confirmed that people can use a pen but are strongly advised to ensure that the ink is dry before folding the ballot paper otherwise any smudge could invalidate the vote.
Peter will not experience any problems with his purple crayon.

Brian. You can't use red, same as you can't write cheques or official forms in red.I am sure Ed will call a news conference and pledge to change that.

You can write cheques in red. Many people have written them in blood to make a point.

Watching News 24 earlier they were covering a speech by the UKIP leader in South Thanet I was surprised to see Kathy Bailes being interviewed. When she left the Dover Express she move to their Canterbury equivalent, now working for the Thanet Gazette.

Had the UKIP leafleting team around earlier this evening. Sir Andrew Richardson, John Paine, Gary Rowland and one other.
This morning I had elections missives from the Blues and UKIP, sandwiched in the middle was a leaflet from Specsavers offering me a free eye test. There must be a message in there somewhere.

Farage is actually gloating after the Express called his party "more Tory than the Tories".

I think that many of the UKIP policies should be Conservative ones, so in that sense, if UKIP are forcing the Conservative Party to become more like Conservatives, then (from my point of view), that is good.

Some interesting candidates fielded by UKIP, we shall have to wait to see if they live up to their names.

Not as far fetched as it sounds Brian, back in the 70s a chap from Barking went on Opportunity Knocks under the name of Wayne King, he expected to be stopped but nobody spotted it.
The culmination was Hughie Green introducing him to the public as "A big hand for Wayne King", I was clutching my guts they were hurting so much.

Can't believe it can you ?
Wayne Kerr and Mike Hunt - their parents must have had a sense of humour.

No doubt Hugh Jarse will show his face later Roger, incidentally i saw you canvassing/leafleting along the far flung border of the Folkestone Rd this morning. Would have made myself known but didn't have any eggs on me.

Thanks Howard.
It's a big ward - not so much in area, but lots of houses, so it takes a while get round and with so many people not answering or not in when we call, it makes it hard to engage with people.
I hope that it doesn't put people off of voting for us, because we haven't knocked on their door, or spoken to them.
Q. how do you like your eggs ?
A. scrambled - on a candidate.
