On your post no. 13 Howard, you say that Peter Wallace was going to be Mayor - how can you say that ? He was indeed the Labour choice, but no one told us that Peter was going to be Mayor; we thought it was to be decided on and voted on, Thursday evening.
I proposed Chris and Stewart proposed Neil - two Independants, both of whom had served their community (and the Town Council) very well over a number of years.
As far as I am aware, there were no deals done or promises given to anyone.

Look forward to working in partnership with the new Town Council team Roger.
Lots to do on all fronts.

That website was promised about the same time as DTC closed their Facebook page Roger, I doubt it will ever happen. At one tine if you googled DTC you went straight to the Town Team Site!! I can't say too much about the Mayoral vote without revealing sources, suffice to say an Indie had a change of heart very close to voting time. Not that it matters a great deal as Peter has only been on the council 5 minutes and was choosing his running mate as deputy similar to Chris picking another indie as his deputy.

Forgiveme for asking Roger but how is it you are rejected by the electorate in your former ward and yet appear on the Dover Town Council?. Strange democracy

There were only 4 names on the ballot paper and 4 places up for grabs.

Interesting scenario Howard .
7-7 with an outgoing Mayor's casting vote on your workings.
Have to say other sides did their deals more effectively then,
I would have thought that would have stunned/surprised many.

Exactly Paul, we can only surmise why the Indie changed his vote.

Influential figure in one group, marginalised voting fodder in other Howard.

re the DTC website, from July there is a new statutory obligation for local councils (town and parish) to publish a much wider range of information on their websites. Most clerks should have had an opportunity to undergo training in the requirements.
I was hoping to publish a link but the LGA website is down at present

Most of the parishes have very simple but attractive websites that are regularly updated. Not a great deal of information as parishes are just villages after all. No excuse for Dover Town Council to exclude the community from knowing what is going on.

Careful Howard, don't let Sue Nicholas catch you saying River is just a village!
Many small parishes don't even have websites at present, a lot around here use the one supplied for free by KCC. The upcoming change from what our parish clerk said at a recent meeting is that there will now be a statutory requirement for particular information to be on local council websites as part of the audit process, and it will need to be up to date.

Roger, I didn't suggest that I wanted to become Mayor of Dover.
And I will not put myself up for election for any post.
The crowds have never asked me to do so.

Perhaps the crowds have more sense than we give them credit for.

Here in Deal we were promised that from next year, the people will decide who the Mayor is from the elected Councillors. I for one am pleased about that. After deryk murray it made most see the mockery the current system is.
I hope our council don't waste time infighting and work together for the town. We have also been promised that councillors /spouses will not be doing the 4 trips abroad each year. Hallelujah! They all thought they were EU cabinet ministers
and neglected the job they were elected to do.

Peter Garstin, I was responding to a comment from Roger that appeared to put words in my mouth that I never said.
There was no mention in my previous comment of me wanting to stand for election for any post.
The comment you made would possibly be appropriate for politicians who hold - or have held - a post after being elected, or who campaigned to be elected.
Politicians and aspiring politicians are considered open to popular critique providing it is fair and not outrageous.
.
I have never stood as a candidate for any election for any post, and consider your comment inappropriate.
Perhaps you should reserve such attacks for politicians who seek to be elected and keep me out of political bashing.
Thank you.
