you must be the only person that missed it roger, went on the telly - bbc south east and lambasted the british for being work shy and said he would only employ immigrants at his work place.
I feel sure that it was not because they were cheaper and didn't know their rights though.

I too have never known Trevor ever come out with any statement that even the most likely to take offense would consider even mildly racist.
It is an unfortunate
fact that UK workers are comparatively unproductive compared to others.
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/feb/20/britain-productivity-gap-widens
As to workshy I can only comment on the many conversations I have had with would be employers the length and breadth of the country who have found it better to employ various European workers who are still imbued with what Max Weber called the Protestant Work Ethic.
Unlike my experience of workers in the USA where the 'lowliest' shop assistant still wishes to be the best shop assistant in the store, there are far too many in the UK who think that in spite of their complete lack of education, talent or skill, some jobs are somehow 'beneath them and that I and others should continue to sponsor their daytime TV watching until something more suitable comes along!
IF work was enjoyable then they wouldn't have to pay us. If someone wants to hire me to shovel shit the only question I ask is how much are you paying and how high would you like it stacked. I don't claim that because I've got a third class honours in Equine Studies from the University of Southend I 'deserve' better.
This view is epitomised by the straightforward politics of envy espoused by the left where any successful person or business is threatened with yet another 'windfall tax'.
If you're all so bloody clever why don't you become bankers rather than moaning about their salaries.

What an excellent critique of my post. I am suitably chastened.

Howard post 22 is defamatory and ought to be deleted. I reported the post but the report has so far been ignored.

Peter your double standards recently are surprising me. Like me, you value and respect freedom of speech, Im not sure why you now want censorship.

Bollocks David. If you were accused of racism I would defend you similarly. And as a forum member I'm concerned about possible litigation bringing its members into disrepute. So should you be. Trevor is no more a racist than you are.

Peter that is my point entirely, I am accused of being a racist on a daily basis with absolutely no foundation. I've never accused Trevor of being a racist but lots of others are very upset by what he's said, ditto bob frost (whoever he is). You'll never hear me grizzling.
Freedom of speech works both ways, if you defend it you also have to respect it. We all know what Trevor said, at the very least it was bloody stupid for a local Cllr. Now of course being stupid isn't a crime, he will be judged by what he said, as will I and every one else who lifts their head above the parapet.
To mention litigation over a few petty exchanges is unlike you, that's the point I was making.

I've come to the conclusion that modern Tories are a bunch of big girls blouses, love chucking it about but can't take it back. I know 5 cllrs that have told me they're voting UKIP in the euros - is that what's called conviction politics? Stand up for what you believe in instead of acting like sheep.
Fair play to roger Walkden, the other day he was honest enough to admit that he wholeheartedly supports 4 areas where the Tories are useless:
Europe
Grammar schools
Policing
Immigration
I've never doubted Rogers integrity, he's as honest as the day is long, but the party he joined decades ago bears no resemblance to this wishy washy bunch. Charlie's a good example, on a personal level I think he's a gentleman, I respect him enormously, but he refers to "police people" and think the public support pcso's. come on Charlie, I'd better take you to a couple of pubs, speak to people don't listen to focus groups.
Come on you cllrs, you all know who you are, stop acting as cheerleaders for this mob that you have nothing in common with and grow a pair. How can you persuade people to vote for a party you don't believe in yourselves?
