bma, institute of directors, cbi. rspb cpre and all others are just unions(trade or not) with self interest at the heart of their utterances.

Actually my views are not all that right wing. 1182, Howard, you are quite right. It just irritates me when the BMA say they are a trade union and Keith says they aren't.

the country is made up of self interest groups, nothing wrong with that.
here in dover we have the town team, wccp, whps various local forums - good luck to all of them.
not sure about the heavyweights i mentioned in 1182.

Keith. I don't have an axe to grind. But the BMA does. Not twisting words, just exposing your posturing as party political bollox.

the bma is a safe guard for us paitents, they got the power to hire, fire and suspend any docter you can mention.so a bit more than a union.

Trouble with the BMA is it is too much of an old boys club, if the face fits to often an incompetent doctor is allowed to keep going sometimes putting lives at risk.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

#1192, 1193, 1194 are utter rubbish.
The BMA is a professional trade union for the medical profession.
The General Medical Council is the regulatory body for doctors, surgeons etc.
The BMA & GMC are not the same.
Until recently the Rev. John Philpott [formerly of Whitfield Parish] was an indepent lay member of the GMC Disciplinary committee.
