Bankrupcy and criminal records may be no bar to top NHS roles.
Private health companies will be able to appoint directors and governors with criminal
convictions, director disqualications and history of Bankruptcy to run NHS funded
services under proposals put forward by the government`s NHS regulator.
At present NHS can only appoint to their boards those that pass a ``fit and proper
person`s test``a requirement enshined in law.
But in the consultation paper it is considering ``waiving the requirements of ....the
test``.after ``lobbying by stakeholders``

Disabled people face persecution.
Minister of Work and Pensions accused of trying to censor disabled advice video and
Atos Healthcare` the private company with the contract to carryout the assessments
are under pressure to declare fit for work those that are patently ``unfit``.
Atos has been `successful in declaring fit for work people with weak hearts and one
leg.....perhaps they could be given the contract to recoup the unpaid taxes of the
many who stash away their `money` in offshore accounts........

Winterbourne Private hospital report.
Owners Castlebeck took.....``Financial reward without responsibility``
BBC Panorama revealed concerns before the abuse was uncovered.
Since the opening of the `Hospital`in 2006 there were 38 ``alerts``raised about 20 patients...only 4
were reported to the NHS.
Vulnerable adults were `looked after``by untrained staff.
Private companies employ the cheapest labour.
Private companies in medicine are bad news.......
There is a photograph of the staff on the internet.......................
Eleven of them at the Private Hospital have pleaded guilty to 40 charges of abuse and are to
be sentenced.
Since Panorama programme 260 reports of abuse have been received.
Report calls for fundamental changes..............

some of the film footage was shocking, totally out of place in a civilised society.
the staff responsible for the abuse were prosecuted, i don't know whether the company faces any action though.

# 78 link...republican nominations......precise.
Paul Ryan is most definitely an Albatross. He has made the kind of impact in just two
days that will delight Conservative admirers.
The second story to emerge is his attack on the NHS.The Fleet Street Tory press gave
the impression of approval saying he will set the contest alight. It sounded like
whistling in the dark to keep Conservatives spirits up but knowing the choice may be
another `Sarah Palin`.
Congressman Ryan does not know much about the NHS and has condemned tax-
payer funded Healthcare in the Wall Street Journal ( proprietor R Murdoch ) warning
Obama`s health plan would lead to a EU style socialisim.
What we do know is Britains and elsewhere see the economical effects of Socialised
healthcare by the State.
UK still spends `less`than 10 % of it`s GDP on healthcare as do most advanced EU
healthcare systems in comparison to the USA`s totally inadequate healthcare system
spends 17 % of it`s GDP.
The vaunted `cleverness`of Ryan shows as always how surprisingly `insular`
American`s are in many ways.
There will be more information to emerge on Ryan and Romney`s Gaffes.
Cameron should watch from a distance and learn from the Romney-Ryan train
crash.......

Ryan seems very well informed about the NHS - how inefficient and poorly performing it is. The victim of an undeserved godlike status and its tax funding. The US system is superb, providing excellent modern care, but only for those with health insurance. The answer is a middle way between these two extremes such as the insurance funded German system.
Ryan has been right as well warning about excessive government spending and of the need to eliminate deficits and did so early while irresponsible governments basked in the 'glory' of their excesses before their pack of cards fell foul of economic reality. The USA is facing their own debt crisis and will be under increasing pressure.
That said I have no great enthusiasm for the Romney/Ryan ticket with Romney as the presidential candidate. Bit of a Hobsons choice with the third rate Obama as the incumbent. I am glad I am not American being faced with that choice, a third rater against a second rater (at best). The Republicans have shot themselves in the foot and should have found someone better as Obama should be a sitting duck for a good candidate to beat. Romney may still win and may be preferable to Obama but I certainly do not have high expectations.
