Which begs the question: why do we call it the National Health Service when it only caters to the sick?

For those that have forgotten #681
"How many of us would turn down treatment or products just because the manufacturers make money from them ?"
I would not turn down either of the above if it made me better, what those who want no change would do has yet to be answered.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

will be interesting to see how this pans out i the future, lansley will be long gone so any blame will be heaped on him with others holding up their hands in horror claiming there was nothing they could do to stop him.

I fail to understand why the NHS is more important than the quality of care provided. Patients should be the priority not that huge inefficient NHS monstrosity.
I say again who provides the care does not matter - the only thing that matters is the quality of the health outcomes and treatment and it being free at the point of delivery available to all.
We will not get decent healthcare until we get shot of the NHS.

# 680 and # 681.
Jan,.....never respond to red herring questions, they do not deserve an answer especially when they have been answered
so many times before....but for you.Companies have to make a profit, thankfully all mine did,but the NHS is not a
company.......yet.

It's not free at the point of delivery anyway, if you consider prescription charges.

peter, unless your over 60 and on/or on benifits,or under 17 and in full time education.the list does go on.

#735. The NHS depends on many many companies who all charge and all make a profit. The NHS is not a single entity as you seem to believe. The question was perfectly reasonable: would you refuse treatment if the company providing the treatment made a profit? Because those are the ones supplying the NHS.

BERN;
I think the question is even bigger than you suggest,
now shouldf companies be making a profir from our health? in this regard who would be the priority the psatient or the shareholder?
theres no politics inb this one as all govts have failed on this one
