What is needed is some continuity not this perpetual politicking. The NHS, like any business, needs to be able to plan ahead, plan strategically, and it cannot do that while people intent on power bicker and trade off each other like adolescents.

Clock is ticking............private clinics breast implants fiasco will/has cost the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds.....
It will be relatively easy to `tuck away` such financial hic-cups in the books now but the whistle blowers are in their
thousands now also...........watch this space............
Errors happen across the board, none more so than in the NHS where, because of the monolithic nature of the beast it has been relatively easy to "tuck away" the consequences.

Let's hope whatever this cobbled together govt forces on us, it is in the interest of the patient

Realistically, the best outcome will only be obtained for patients (customers, clients, whatever) with a good and auditable mix of clinical and business skills, to ensure clinical excellence and value for money - not a dirty phrase but the best way to get the best quality for the best price, not cut price, not cheapest, but best value.

thats the problem bern
at the moment private companies that do the food and cleaning are a disaster
so it doesnt brim you with confidence for the future.
when the matropn ran the wards it was run a lot better as someone was accountable, probably difficult to do now.

Sadly the old Matron system won't return. But the idea needs to be to make accountability simple and transparent. Under monolithic organisation the audit becomes King rather than Servant. It needs to be the opposite - and it takes excellent and experienced management to do that.

Coutesy Guardian......
GP`s shares in private health firms prompt conflict of interest fears................
22 of the CCG`s have at least half and sometimes all GP`s that dominate their boards have personal financial interests
in private NHS providers................
Doctors leaders are worried such conflicts of interest will diminish trust in GP`s and lead to more NHS services being
taken over by Private Operators...........

Most GP's surgeries are themselves private businesses and always have been.

Indeed. And GPs probably need to focus more on the trust that is lost through opaque accountability and poor practice.

Well I'm not a doctor, but I know that the overwhelming majority do their NHS quota and see private patients as a kind of overtime. As do consultants.

MP`s Public Accounts Committee report says Health Watchdog is not ready to monitor GP`s and is not ready for the
challenges of the Health Reform.
The Care Quality Commission ( CQC) is poorly governed and led.
CQC focused on administration and neglected the level of care and failed to act on whistleblowers....MP`s concluded.
CQC did not concentrate on the quality of care......which did not engender confidence in the care system..........
Perhaps we need a whistleblower on the risk register...............................
CQC have always been a problem, with poor governance and leadership. This is a good opportunity to re-define and manage the organisation better.
