The Chief Secretary to the Treasury has `pledged` the Government`s determination to make wealthy
individuals to pay their `fair`share of Tax.When pressed about the enormous amount of Tax
Avoidance involved he stated ``we are investing more money in HMRC to go after the Tax avoiders``
he added ``we are going to get you``
In Greece`s hour of need their elite greedy pigs are putting their tax avoidance money in Swiss bank
accounts.
Kostas Vaxevanis, investigative journalist gave the names of 2.059 wealthy Greek`s which included
two former ministers and chief adviser to the PM to the authorities who instead of arresting them
arrested the whistle-blower....seems reasonable....
Tax avoidance is a worldwide issue. The time for change of attitude towards the crimes of the rich
has come, this may be the moment when Europe as a whole realises.
UK need a whistle-blower.....we need to catch the big money avoiders not the butcher, baker and candlestick
maker..........

Clairvoyant Closet ?.............purely a response to # 1587....``Reg, the only way you'll ever end tax avoidance is employing a
Stasi type brigade that snoops on small businesses such as cafes, plumbers, window cleaners and builders.``

Clairvoyant Closet - is that some sort of code?
The point is, you have stated you're very comfortable with some avoiding tax but not others, seems a bit odd

Illegal tax avoidance has too many loop-holes, and these need ironing out.

How many times does this need repeating - avoidance is perfectly legal if perhaps of dubious morality; evasion is illegal.
As Peter rightly points out government stats show lowering the tax rate increase treasury receipts of tax.
As I, Barry, Peter & David have all argued in our own ways the only reasonable and fair tax system is the one that is simple a,d ideally applies the same rate to everything, with a sensible tax free allowance that means those on average wage or below pay no income tax.
If you are going to edit posts H - try to ensure they maintain the original sense :-)

Tax is like so many things the more complex the easier to bend the rules, the simpler the better as there are not nearly so many loopholes.
It is a shame that the Whitehall mandarins of any colour seem unable to grasp this fact.

Legally evading paying tax has too many loopholes, but by reducing the income-tax of high earners, the Treasury would be down and out.

I do wonder what the question might be, but here may be one answer...
" Phillippa Williamson stepped down from her role as chief executive of the SFO six months ago, taking voluntary redundancy, and was paid £407,000 towards her pension as well as a further £15,000.
A report from the NAO claims that these payments were "irregular", and said that it refused to approve the watchdog's annual accounts because they had not been approved by the Cabinet Office.
Amyas Morse, comptroller and auditor general at the NAO, said: "There is no evidence that due process was followed in instigating this voluntary redundancy, for example, whether alternative positions within the civil service were sought prior to the severance being initiated.
"There is also no evidence that Cabinet Office approval was obtained. In the absence of Cabinet Office approval, the payment to MyCSP in respect of the CEO's departure must be deemed to be irregular."
Prior to leaving her position at the SFO, Ms Williamson was earning an annual salary of £125,000. "

Revenue cuts deal with Tax evaders...................
Hundreds of tax evaders identified on Britains ``Largarde List will escape prosecution and keep there identities secret under
immunity deals offered by Revenue and Customs.
This is bad news.......it is sending out the wrong message.....these people need to be prosecuted .....it is a typical political
cop out on the ``influential and powerful``

Take them all to court like Harry Redknapp.
Oh hold on, that cost the taxpayer £millions and HMRC lost.
If HMRC weren't so incompetent and the laws so complicated none of this would happen.
