Barry - just because you are "of the right" does not mean you are always right any more than those of us of other political leanings are. The key thing is surely to engage one's brain evaluate ALL the evidence and make a judgement as to the reasons for the results seen. Of course for some that gets in the way of the sacred cows, but hey ho....
As for multi-nationals if they earn income here they should pay a fair level of tax here and not use all the marginally legal, but frankly immoral, ways to avoid tax.
Likewise, fair treatment of workers, fair pay and a reasonable level of protection from wrongful dismissal is actually damn good management and leads to productive workers (on the whole) who actually help business grow. Hire and Fire management alienates people and is a myth of 1960's Americana - none of the major US multi-nationals mentioned in this thread treat their North American or European workforces that way. The way they treat there workforces in other parts of the world is a different matter and frankly too often leaves a very nasty taste and smell.

You do not need to remind me of my signature, it is only by sticking to that signature that I am able to cope with your condescending answers.
My, "When it comes to Tax advice, you clearly are the expert and I acknowledge that fact".
That was a genuine statement and acknowledgment of your expertise.
Your "I am actually an investment expert and adviser, tax and economic matters are something I need to know about and keep up to date with for investment and professional reasons."
Yours is longer and most certainly repeated on here the most but it only amounts to the same as what I said.
Having a low opinion of striking miners is your right but that does not give you the right to alter the facts, to suit your ideals.
No more from me about miners on this post.

I do not alter the facts Gary and I thought you needed reminding from the personal tone of your posts that touch on the insulting. Clearly I was right. I also just corrected your, not unreasonable, misunderstanding of my professional role, I am not an accountant who are the tax specialist.

Posts 711, 718 both get personal and close to the cusp as does 722.
I have avoided making disparaging personal comments to you and have only been personal in reminding you of the narrow path you are treading.
I suggest that you read and reflect on the exchanges Gary.

This thread is getting a bit nasty, even though I have read nothing for anyone to complain about.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

unfortunately some of your posts on this thread have contained personal comments, a pity as they are normally interesting.
let's not get back to the bad old days.

well well i go away for a short while and look what happens.
now it can be frustrating when people hold differing views, but thats all for a healhy forum.
we all choose how to manage our finances, now i chose not to use barryw
but rather sort out my own financial affairs.
now, the thread continues to drift into personal comments and we don't want to end up with another saga like the silly situation the forum found itself in when two members fell out,
As i';v said before we have lots of experienced members on the forum, many who's expertese is not known and some members just guess they have no knowledge and get it wrong.
like reg says comments have gone out from the present 2 members concerned and if you dish it out you should expect some back.
come on guys and girls this is a great forum

Apologies if this offends anyone, but it made me smile. I was scrolling quickly through this page to get to the bottom and see what developments had happened and I thought I read Gary as saying " I haven't finished insulting you yet BarryW" in #725. A quick scroll back upwards reassured me that Gary had not suddenly transformed and turned green with a ripped shirt!! It was so out of character my face must have been a picture!!!! GaryC- and BarryW - whatever our differences it is always a pleasure to read you.

Barclay`s, Diamond`s £ 17 million pay package has caused a shareholders revolt and will result in a `token`reduction
to appease them but shareholders actions are a mere spit in the ocean.Other methods of control are still required.
Lib/Dem Lord says what also sticks in the gullet of taxpayers and investors is the blank cheque to pay his tax bill.
.....now thats real tax avoidance.......should make someone happy......
