Old news. Not particularly relevant. Green-eyed monster stuff.

Do you feel the Barclays guy getting £18million to be a good move?

I don't have the information on which to make a judgment, Keith.

I would say it is an extremely sensible answer and is so much better than pure speculation.

The point is Keith, if he had made a profit of 100 times £18m would you begrudge him a 1% bonus?

Why should it bother you Keith?
You are not a Barclays shareholder as far as I know and from what you have previously said I understand that you do not even bank with them.
No doubt he has a contract that sets out the terms for any bonus.
This is only a matter for the Barclays shareholders who should be asking questions and deserve an answer. It is not as if Barclays got a bail-out.

Correction Barry, Barclays got a bailout from the government of Qatar. This is going to come back and haunt Barclays as there have been allegations that they lent the Qataris most of the money to buy the shares, which is illegal.

Clumsy wording there on my part Peter... No bail-out from UK taxpayers. Keith not being a Qatar taxpayer of course is not affected by that.

Good old Qatar...
British gas prices slump as Qatar, Trinidad imports eases reserves worry
"LONDON (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices fell by up to 20 percent on Monday, undermined by major gas shipments due from Qatar and Trinidad to help replenish stored gas reserves depleted by weeks of abnormally cold weather.
The price of gas for weekend delivery fell about 20 percent to 84 pence per therm, while the day-ahead gas contract slumped to 93.50 pence, a drop of around 11 percent..."

errrm Keith - no, different issues, the gas supply is nothing to do with the Barclay matter we have been discussing.
Besides, isn't the arrival of gas supplies a good thing given the media scare stories recently?

So just because someone gets £18m he is a 'greedy pig' - what rubbish. In fact this whole thread is a farce, a testimony to the green eyed monster and the kind of attitudes that are economically damaging us all right now.

Yes Brian - the foolish, outdated and envious attitudes that are damaging the economy and damaging the very people these idiotic prejudices are supposed to be defending.
