The banks are laying off staff by the hundreds of thousands over the past 2 years, world-wide.
Many bankers themselves have been laid off.
A banker today won't quit their job for a higher wage at another bank, but will be happy to accept a lower salary and a lower - if any - bonus. As no other bank would take them on.
The EU has started confiscating savings in banks.
In Cyprus, everyone with bank savings must pay 6.7% of it to the State, except those with over 100,000 euro, who must give up 9.9%.
In fact they don't even pay it, the State is just confiscating the money, whether they like it or not. They are doing it through an EU directive.
Where are now Peter and Barry, who were saying that to confiscate any savings from the super-rich would be communism, Stalinism, dictatorship...?
Well here we have the EU confiscating savings from ANYONE who has any...
Once again I had predicted all this long before, and here it is happening.
What say you now, Barry???

I think we all know Keith's dislike of HSBC because he always complains about them on here yet going by #2467 still uses them, strange as it is so easy to change banks..

Alex - stupidity, madness and fascism/Stalinism most certainly.
Keith - yes it appears some rogues in the Argentinian operation may well have been involved. The bank's new head of compliance certainly has his work cut out to stop such abuses. This bloke, Bob Werner, used to be head of the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control which was responsible for enforcing the US sanctions, so he is well qualified for the position.

I'm surprised a good socialist like Keith doesn't bank with the CO-OP.
Interesting to read that Keith gives money to a financial organisation that launders money

Sorry Keith, I did not mean this to turn into a pick on Keith thread.
BTW I still bank quite happily at HSBC and will continue to do.
